And is it just me, or does it seem like the creators (or perhaps the reporters of the news) really like what's been done with (and are especially emphasizing) Boom Boom's character?

Probably because she will be this first new mutant, so to speak, to have a show revolve around her. I believe the 3rd episode will be hers.
To touch on some quick points.
Most of the time the newer kids will simply be background characters, at least in the beginning. The focus of the show will be around the core team from the first season. As the series progresses, more will be revealed about the rookies.
Dating, everyone has their picks, but the creators have stated that the only mutant romance will be the one evolving between Scott/Jean. If others occur, who knows, it's speculation at this point, but dont stop dreaming. Most of the other kids will actually date non-mutants. Normal kids from the High School.

SPOOKYSPICE I imagine that the legion of "Kurty" fans are dying for something to start up between these two. I wouldnt mind seeing 'em hook up, but now that I know my former favorite New Mutant WOLFSBANE is going to be in the mansion ( http://www.hostboard.com/ubb/biggrin.gif ) i'm rooting for a RAHNE/KURT romance!
BAMF!

I have entertained that possibility too BAMF. I always thought if they were closer together in age they'd be really cute. I don't think "kurtty" fans would like it if they did that in Evo(and I fear the "kurtty" fans, I really do) One problem is, Rahne has reacted to Kurt a lot like Kitty has done in Evo. It would be the same kind of story, just a different gal, cept she's furry too.
Anyway, I'm the #1 advocate for Kurt meeting a normal non-mutant girl. I've been really bugging people about it lately on other boards. I've gotten some pretty strong reactions.

I'd like to see that myself. Were the strong reactions you got posative, negative or some of both?

Kurt and Rhane would be a cute, furry little couple! That would be interesting. They also have the whole compassionate and spiritual outcast thing going on, but Rhane was always insecure and shy, while Kurt was jocular and outgoing. They would be good together, I think. They're hyping BoomBoom? Hmmm. I wonder what they're going to do with her? I hope Bobby and Kurt have some scenes together. The two of them should be really funny to watch interacting. Even if the new additions are just background characters, there's no saying that they won't come into the forefront in some episodes! (ie: Forge) I wouldn't mind seeing Kurt hook up with a non-mutant girl, either. Kitty and Rhane are just some interesting (if far-fetched) possibilities. I can't wait for next season!

Well a lot of Kitty fans take it as Kitty-bashing. A lot of people have been bashing Kitty and her fans have gotten kinda sensitive about it. I wasn't aware of this when I came on saying that I didn't think Kitty was the right girl for Kurt and I'd rather see him meet a gal at school. I'll just quote myself because I don't want to have to write it all again.

quote:

Let me explain what I mean by a normal girl. I mean someone who isn't a mutant and isn't involved with the xmen. She only knows Kurt as a kinda cute and funny boy in a couple of her classes. Maybe they talk once in a while, do assignments together in class. She likes him and he seems to like her, but he never lets her touch him, and seems to be trying to avoid her at times. She's not aware that Kurt really likes her company, but at the same time dreads letting her know too much about him. At some point, he'll have to gather his courage and turn that hologram off. How would she react?? Will she be horrified? Will she think he's really cute? (SHUSHH!!! She probably would, but Kurt doesn't know that!) Maybe the decision is made for him: The x-men have to do battle and she gets involved in it and sees a blue demon that seems strangely familiar somehow....She confronts Kurt about it later. That's just one scenario that I can think of.
That?s a lot more interesting than pairing him up with Kitty. Kitty's not normal. She's a mutant and a member of the x-men just like Kurt. She can't bring in the perspective of a normal person, and it's in that perspective that Kurt's physical difference and mysterious qualities are most evident. With Kitty, he's stuck in the role of the cute goofball...Kitty's pet fuzzy elf...and I think that would be a waste of a great character.

A huge misunderstanding ensued after I posted this because people thought I was just bashing Kitty. I got mad becuase I thought they were trying to make me a pariah for not being a "kurtty" fan. It took a lot of yelling, explaining, gnashing of teeth and hairpulling before we all calmed down. I've pretty much have made up with the Kitty fans now. I told them I really do like Kitty even if I'm not into the kurtty stuff. They're ok with that.
There was one person who really liked my idea though. She's writing a fanfic about it http://www.hostboard.com/ubb/smile.gif

I've seen your postings, Spats!! ...Oh, man! I like your idea a lot too. Don't worry, I'll figure out a way to post in your defense next time.
Gnahrf and Kurtlover: Wish I could help, but I can't actually tape the episodes (my VCR is broken). Here's a thought though: would it help if maybe I recount to you guys what happens in the episodes as they go? That way at least you get to know what's happening (I know how much I hassled MY friends to see the eps and recount them to me when I couldn't see them! http://www.hostboard.com/ubb/wink.gif ...they are very supportive. )
-
let's see, that may be doable for kurtlover, since I think Mexico uses the same kind of tape format as US, but gnarf is in Europe and they have a different kind of tape there. Ours wouldn't work in their VCRs.
At least i don't think so.
-
Hm, ok, I'm ignorant, so somebody tell me what the hell other kinds of tape there are. Then again, I can just go ahead and write down the story plot line and quotes every Saturday morning...it'll be good practice notetaking...
